Last night, we talked about how our impulses make us take risks, which may be good things or bad. The part of our brain that handles "reason" helps us examine whether that impulse is right or wrong for us. As your child reaches middle school, the brain begins to change to handle more complex challenges, and this can sometimes affect how well reason responds to impulses. Friends, peers, family and the media can have an impact on their decisions when their reasoning is not 100% and sometimes that is not always the best call for them. Faith can help them sort out the right call, but like everything, faith must become part of their life. How do you show your child that your faith affects the choices you make? The best way we learn things is through observing others, and you child does not watch anyone as closely as they watch you. What are you teaching them about faith and making good decisions?
