Today we arrived in Muscat, the capital of Oman. My tour was a general overview of the area. The first stop was the famous Grand Mosque. Unfortunately, the “weekend closings” are on Thursday and Friday, so we could not go inside. From there we went to Mutrah Suq, a maze of pathways packed with stalls selling everything from clothing, trinkets, jewelry, spices. Bargaining is expected in what is arguably the best market in the Gulf Region. Since I love the process of bargaining, I was in heaven!
My dinner companion, Shirley, and I hooked up for today’s tour. We have similar tastes and energy so we traveled well together. Seated across the aisle in the bus was a couple from Pasadena, MD!! They joined the cruise in England. I also met the couple from Annapolis who live off Forest Drive. Given the thousands of people on this ship it is amazing to find people from the same country, let alone the same state! Disney had it right: It’s a small world after all!
