After 22 hours of traveling I arrived in Manilla at 9:30 pm (local time). I had been warned that I might need to prove the reason for my coming to the Philippines. Besides my passport I had a copy of the receipt for attending the SFCC Assembly and flight information for my departure. Much to my surprise no questions were asked at all! Since my face matched the one in my passport I breezed right through.
Two sisters were to meet me but we never met up. It is a huge terminal and there were hundreds of people waiting to greet arriving passengers. After an hour I decided to catch a taxi and head to the hotel. My driver was a nice young man whose sister lives in Minneapolis. When he learned I was a Catholic nun he pointed out every Catholic church and a hospital along the drive.
It was nice to finally check into a room with a real bed! And, believe me, it did not take long for me to fall asleep!
Today is my day to rest after all the travel and time-zone changes. Several sisters from the United States arrived yesterday so I will not be alone dealing with jet lag. I slept until 8:15 am, showered and went to the dining room for breakfast. NOW I am feeling a bit more human.
In case you are wondering when it is 11:00 am in Manila it is 10:00 pm the same day in Edgewater.
