When I think of Korea, I do not think “Catholic.” However, outside the UNESCO World Heritage Site was a plaque dedicated to the French priest, Fr. Emile Joseph Taque (1873-1952). During his missionary work in Jeju he collected plant specimens (in his spare time) and sent them to Europe. As you can read on the plaque, his collection led to some important discoveries. Another lens on being a Missionary Disciple!
The tree pictured here is over 1,000 years old. It stands as proof that this island has been around for a long time!
