I didn’t realize how large Thailand is! We visited the island of Phuket which is about 1000 miles from Bangkok, the capital and center of the country. Towns are separated by small mountains, so driving from place to place takes time.
The first stop on our tour was the highest point on the island (picture attached). The climb of 33+ steps and ramps was rewarded by a breathtaking view of a mountain range surrounded by water. I had good cell phone reception so was able to make a call home!
From there we went to a show. It was nice, but crowded and not air conditioned (temps were in the mid 90’s.) From there we visited a Buddhist temple and a pricy souvenir shop before returning to the ship. The trip was advertised as 5 ½ hours but took closer to 9!!! By the time I returned to the ship I was hot and tired. A shower and dinner helped revive me.
I was going on a trip tomorrow on Malesia but canceled. Think I need a day of rest to get ready for 2 days in Singapore.
